Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Redesign

UCLAx
Landscape Architecture 3
This project reimagines the 14-acre Civic Arts Plaza—home to City Hall, the Kavli and Scherr Theaters, and a multi-level parking structure—as a more connected, people-centered civic campus. Through site inventory, analysis, and case study research, I developed a structured design process emphasizing circulation, spatial hierarchy, and public activation across multiple scales. Using digital media tools, the proposal explores how open space, performance, and civic identity can intersect through landscape design. The resulting plan transforms the site into a cohesive public realm that integrates culture, community, and everyday urban life.

My work explores how people move through, gather in, and form emotional relationships with landscape spaces. I’m interested in the balance between contemplation and activity, circulation and pause, and how planting, shade, seating, and spatial sequencing shape experience at the human scale.
