Landscape Design 4This project reimagines Johnny Carson Park as a resilient riverfront landscape that reconnects the Los Angeles River to its ecological and social context. Drawing from historical river alignments, the design restores a naturalized meander, expands the floodplain, and introduces terraced river edges that support both habitat and public use.
A layered network of trails, crossings, and gathering spaces improves access across infrastructure barriers, transforming the site into a continuous recreational corridor. The proposal balances hydrologic performance with community experience, positioning the river as both ecological infrastructure and civic space.
